JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Ophthalmic Electrophysiology Specialist
Independent Contractor
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced ophthalmic electrophysiology specialist to perform diagnostic testing for patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). This independent contractor role focuses on full-field electroretinogram (ffERG) testing in a clinical research setting as part of jCyte’s Phase 2 clinical trial (JC02-88). The immediate need is for candidates interested in supporting one or more U.S. sites.
The role requires only a few days per month, with all equipment provided onsite. Scheduling is flexible, and travel expenses (airfare and/or hotel, if required) are reimbursed.
Candidates may range from ophthalmic technologists to PhD-trained vision scientists. This is a contract position with potential for ongoing collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ffERG testing for patients with RP. Clinical interpretation skills are a plus; final interpretation will be completed by a study investigator.
- Prepare patients for procedures (electrode placement, pupil dilation, explaining the procedure to ensure comfort and compliance).
- Record responses, analyze waveforms, and generate preliminary reports.
- Maintain and calibrate ERG equipment; troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Ensure compliance with International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) standards, the JC02-88 protocol, and site procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA or equivalent).
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of ERG experience in an ophthalmic clinical or research setting.
- Strong knowledge of inherited retinal diseases and their impact on visual electrophysiology.
- Proficiency with ffERG protocols (dark adaptation, stimulus calibration, signal processing).
- Electrophysiology certification strongly preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and patient-facing professionalism.
- Proficiency with ERG data analysis software (e.g., Diagnosys, Espion, MATLAB, LabVIEW).
Compensation and Terms
- Competitive, based on experience. Paid hourly or per project (negotiable).
- 1099 independent contractor role (responsible for own taxes and insurance)
How to Apply
Please send your CV and a brief cover letter highlighting your ERG and retinal disease experience to applicants@jcyte.com. References from previous contracts are encouraged. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
